Music Programs

The Music Ministries at Prince of Peace are a very important part of our Church.  We have choral and instrumental groups as well as solo and ensemble opportunities.  If you are interested in joining any musical groups, please contact the Director of Music Ministries, Mrs. Linda Thomas.

The Prince of Peace Choir is made up of parishioners of all ages and abilities who love to sing praise to the Lord.  We sing once a month (sometimes twice a month in the summer), and we rehearse on the Tuesday evening prior to the Sunday service on which we sing.  During Advent, Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter, we sing more often to provide music at the special holiday services.  If you like to sing, but are worried about your musical ability, please do not hesitate to join – we have a great deal of fun as we learn and make music together.

The Children’s Choir is made up of children who attend the Wednesday Junior Youth Group Kid’s Time.  They sing at the Sunday morning services occasionally throughout the year, choosing one of the many worship songs they have become accustomed to singing on Wednesday afternoons. 

 

 

 

The Instrumental Ensemble is also for all ages and instruments.  We have people who are fairly new at playing their instruments and we have people who have played for many, many years.  We try to select music that can be played by all.  We currently have trumpet, flute, and clarinet, and are always looking for more instruments to join us.  We would especially love to have someone who knows percussion to join our growing band!

Our Flute Choir is open to any flutists in the Community who want to join (regardless of their ability).  We have played for church services, Advent by Candlelight, the Community Hunger Concert, and at Pine Crest.  We anticipate being involved in these events again as well as other community events.  It is so inspiring to hear so many flutes playing different parts at the same time!

Our newest Music venture is our contemporary praise group “Jubilation”.  We sing the first weekend of the month from May through October and lead the congregation in more contemporary worship songs.  We love to sing praises to our Lord with this group! 

Our vocalists, choirs, and instrumentalists also performed for the Advent by Candlelight Service in early December.  Then, if you love to listen to music, you will want to attend the Christmas Concert by Linda Thomas and several other Prince of Peace musicians during mid-December.  In addition, we also performed a Christmas Cantata on the Sunday before Christmas.  We also provide much music during Holy Week, including Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and of course, Easter Sunday.  Come join us! 

As you can see, our Music Ministries are an excellent way to praise our Lord and Savior, and they offer many fellowship opportunities among our members as well.  Come join us anytime!  We would love to have you!
